The Tarrangower Cactus Control Group and all their dedicated volunteer ‘cactus warriors’ have been working hard for the past ten years informing, teaching and assisting the communities of Maldon, Baringhup and Nuggetty.
We have significantly increased both community awareness and knowledge of wheel cactus and the number of property owners taking control of wheel cactus on their land.
In partnership with Parks Victoria, we’ve also helped to keep wheel cactus under control in our beautiful historic park lands. We’ve killed millions of plants over the past 10 years, potentially preventing billions more new plants from growing.
Well done!
And to celebrate this, we held a splendid 10th Birthday party in November 2015. We decorated the Butts pavilion like it’s never been decorated before, had a magnificently decorated birthday cake, played fun games and ate delicious food.
Thank you to all our wonderful volunteers, sponsors and supporters, especially Parks Victoria for being such a fruitful partner, and other major sponsors such as Mount Alexander Shire Council and the North Central Catchment Management Authority.
Thank you very much to everyone else who has helped us during the past 10 years but couldn’t join our celebration!
