Thanks to ongoing funding from Mount Alexander Shire Council, we can continue to provide advice and support to land holders and managers to control Wheel Cactus. We do this by holding Community Field Days and providing free loans of injecting equipment as an incentive to contribute to our community-based war on Wheel Cactus. However, due to all the current global issues affecting supply and transport of goods, we’re having problems maintaining a supply of new injectors. So, for our next community field day we’re requesting that you BYO an injector if you have one at home. Even if it’s clogged up and not working, please bring it back and our volunteers will try to get it working again. Our first Community Field Day for 2022 is on Sunday 29th May, starting at 10:30am. Come and join us and learn how best to control Wheel Cactus. The location is on a property in Waterson’s Rd. To get there, follow Bridgewater Rd. out of Maldon and turn left into Waterson’s Rd.; the route will be signposted. Check here for a location map. All equipment is provided, just wear long, protective clothing and sturdy boots. The morning’s activities end with a delicious BBQ lunch and friendly chat. As we are members of Landcare Victoria, we will be following Covid-Safe and Child Protection guidelines, and all children must be accompanied by a parent at all times.
