Last week a group of Monash University students made their annual visit to Maldon to help with the battle against Wheel Cactus. Members of the Monash Biological Society have been assisting the Tarrangower Cactus Control Group since 2010.
Fifteen students spent four days working on cactus infestations in Watersons Road and the Nuggetty hills. Despite cold, wintery weather they had a great time and did some very valuable work.
Over the last several years the students’ visits have been subsidized by grants from the North Central Catchment Management Authority. These grants have also supported field days for secondary school students.
