The Tarrangower Cactus Control Group would like to say thank you very much to all the volunteers who have helped attack wheel cactus during 2014. We’ve held eight hugely successful Community Field Days during the past year, with record numbers of local volunteers helping us to control the spread of this noxious weed.
We’d also like to acknowledge all the “quiet achievers” in our community, those who wage their own private war on wheel cactus by keeping their properties clear of this weed, a huge thank you for your very important contributions!
Another enormous thank you is extended to our sponsors and supporters, including Parks Victoria, Mount Alexander Shire Council, North Central Catchment Management Authority, Connecting Country and the Tarrangower Times.
We take a rest during the hot summer months and will recommence our field days at the end of April 2015. We wish you all a fun and safe festive season and hope to see you all again. But in the meantime, don’t forget to ‘keep a bucket in the boot’ and dig up any small plants you find on your ventures. Or if you need to borrow equipment to inject any large fruiting plants, please call Ian on 0412 015 807.
