Wheel Cactus Field Day and Woody Weeds Demonstration

By November 22, 2014June 22nd, 2018Field Days

The Tarrangower Cactus Control Group Inc. and Parks Victoria will be holding a combined field day with the newly formed ‘Sandy Creek Woody Weeds Action Group’. This group has recently gained funding to attack ‘Woody Weeds’ in the Sandy Creek area. This will include a presentation about blackberry, gorse, and other woody weed infestations.

The combined Field Day and TCCG Inc. AGM will be held on Sunday 30th November, beginning at 10:30. The location will be a property in Seers Road, just a few kms south of Maldon, off the Maldon-Newstead Road, and will be well signposted. Everyone is most welcome to attend our AGM which will be held at 12:15pm, after the ‘Woody Weeds’ presentation, then enjoy a friendly chat and delicious BBQ lunch.

Please come and join us for the final attack on Wheel Cactus for this year. The TCCG Inc. takes a rest during the summer, due to the long grass, snakes and heat, and will reconvene in April next year. However, during this break please don’t forget to continue to kill any wheel cactus plants you find, especially the mature plants bearing flowers and fruit. This helps immeasurably to stop the spread of this noxious weed.

If you can’t come to our Community Field Days but have a Wheel Cactus infestation on or near your property that you would like to attack, and need some tools and/or advice, please contact the Tarrangower Cactus Control Group by calling Ian on 0412 015 807 or contacting us through our website.
