Cactus warrior volunteers working at a community field day on a local private property.

Have you recently escaped the city and bought yourself a piece of paradise in the Maldon area? And now discovered there’s a few annoying weeds to deal with? If you have Wheel Cactus plants on your property, or wonder if you have, then the Tarrangower Cactus Control Group (TCCG) can help. No matter how small or large the Wheel Cactus infestation, please don’t hesitate to contact the TCCG for help to deal with this highly invasive weed.

Or just come along to one of our Community Field Days where we’ll show you the best techniques to use. We can set you up with the equipment you’ll need to destroy your own Wheel Cactus plants. Thanks to ongoing support from the Mt. Alexander Shire Council, our group is very well equipped with digging and injecting tools that can be borrowed free of charge.

If you’ve got a large Wheel Cactus infestation on your property then we can organise to have a Community Field Day on your property and bring our army of ‘cactus warriors’, to start the (sometimes) daunting task of tackling the infestation. If we do this, there is NO obligation for you to attend future field days. Our group does not expect you to control Wheel Cactus infestations at other locations.

Here on this website you can read some interesting case studies about community members who’ve bought properties with Wheel Cactus infestations and been very successful in eliminating the weed. Our Community Field Days begins at 10:30am and end with a delicious BBQ lunch. We hold six field days per year and supply all the necessary equipment and food.
