Our next Field Day will begin the new Tarrangower Cactus Control Group project, with thanks to Landcare Victoria for funding. This project will involve introducing a new biocontrol tool, the Cochineal insect, and establishing a new multi-pronged strategy to destroy Wheel Cactus that will be more effective, sustainable and long-term. The project will work with local property owners to develop specific, integrated management plans, using our current tools of injecting herbicide and manual digging plus the biological control agent.
Our project begins with a Field Day on Sunday 28th April, starting at 10:30am. Come and join us to learn how Cochineal works and how best to use it. The location is 61 Baringhup Rd., Maldon, see map poster below and the route will be well signposted. The morning’s activities end with a delicious BBQ lunch and friendly chat. The event is family friendly but children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. If you have any queries please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
