‘Using Drones to control Wheel Cactus’
UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) or Drone technology is now used for spraying weeds, seeding plants, plant ID and mapping. We’ve invited Danny Pettingill to enlighten us about these machines.
Danny, from Firetail Environments, is a local authority of drone technology and its use for conservation and farming programs. He’s been involved in a Wheel Cactus management project near Wedderburn and will discuss the potential for using this technology for Wheel Cactus control, and will also have some equipment for demonstration.
Also presenting is Pam Clunie, one of our committee members, who’s passionate about improving the management of Wheel Cactus by incorporating new technology such as drones, and will discuss possible future projects and objectives that our group could investigate.
